Privacy Policy

Overview

This page explains what personal data The Little Red Gallery collects when you visit this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep this collection to a minimum: we don't run an online shop, take payments through this site, or operate a newsletter, so there's very little of your data for us to hold in the first place.

Who we are

This website is operated by The Little Red Gallery, 8 Bailgate, Lincoln, LN1 3AE, United Kingdom. If you have any questions about this policy or about your data, you can reach us at art@thelittleredgallery.co.uk or on 01522 589134.

What data we collect

We collect very little data directly. The address and phone number links on this site (for example in the header, footer and Contact page) simply open your own email or phone app — nothing is sent to us or stored by this website when you click them.

The main data we do collect comes from your browser automatically as you use the site:

  • Server log files. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical details of each visit, such as browser type, operating system, referring page, the time of the request, and IP address. This information is used only to keep the site running securely and reliably, and is not combined with any other data about you.
  • Cookies. Small text files stored in your browser. See the next section for the cookies we use and why.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — for example, a cookie that remembers your cookie preference (cookie_consent) once you've made a choice on the banner. These are required for the site to function and don't need your consent under UK GDPR, as they support our legitimate interest in running the site properly (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics, but only after you click "Accept All" on our cookie banner. These help us understand, in aggregate, which pages are popular and how visitors find the site, so we can make it more useful. We do not load Google Analytics, and no analytics cookies are set, until you give your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR).

You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of this site, which reopens the banner so you can accept or reject analytics cookies again. You can also block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, though this may affect how well the site works.

Google Analytics

When you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) to understand how visitors use this website — for example, which pages are viewed and how people navigate between them. Google Analytics uses cookies to generate this information, which is transmitted to and stored by Google, including on servers in the United States.

We have not enabled any features that let Google Analytics identify you personally, and we don't use it for advertising. If you reject or later withdraw cookie consent using the banner or the "Cookie Preferences" link, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics data is collected from your visit.

For more information about how Google handles this data, see Google's Privacy Policy. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on if you'd like to opt out on every site that uses it, not just this one.

Google Maps

Our Contact page embeds a Google Maps view showing the gallery's location, provided by Google Ireland Limited. Loading this map may allow Google to collect and process data, including your IP address, in the same way as described in Google's Privacy Policy linked above. This helps visitors find us more easily, which is a legitimate interest of ours in making the site useful (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • ask us what personal data we hold about you, and to receive a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data, where we have no continuing lawful reason to keep it;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we process your data;
  • withdraw your consent to analytics cookies at any time, using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew it; and
  • request that data you have provided to us be transferred to you or another organisation, where technically feasible.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the way we use cookies or analytics changes. Any changes will be posted on this page.
