This piece is based on the monument "Girl with Ears of Grain" located near the entrance to the National Holodomor Museum in Kyiv, Ukraine. The monument is to memorialise the Holodomor, a man-made famine, endured by the Ukrainian SSR and adjacent Cossack territories between 1932 and 1933.
